8/25/2023 0 Comments Pueblo county leap officePueblo needs to focus a little more and not spread its downtown resources out so much.Ĭolorado Springs made some very critical errors over the last several years with their downtown. I have found it better to redevelop an area that has one great street that is alive and active than several streets that only are half alive. The downtown is quiet spread out which reduced the 'energy' level and may make it very hard to fill in all the parking lots and gaps for a metro of its size or even future size (next 20 years). Downtown Pueblo's greatest challenge may turn out be its how much land area it covers. Very smart move on Pueblo's part and these developments will pay off in the future. The riverwalk, convention center, cultural complex are all downtown. Pueblo has done a very good job at building infrastructure to support future growth with some unique attributes. Pueblo's metro is 156,000 while Colorado Springs' metro is 617,000. I really think this is an apple to oranges discussion. So I thought I would way in on this 'interesting' discussion. I am a city planner and a downtown redevelopment specialist. I am new to the area and moved to the front range from Cincy.
